5.35am - Sam on the sea at daybreak

For scale - you can just make out the yellow of my support canoe - giving me a wide berth as I cannot even see myself! Actually, I went very wide, across and through.

It has always been a little dream of mine to pass through the heads under my own ‘energy’

Maybe this way next time - not too far behind

James Thompson in his company vehicle stopping to say G’day at 7.30am (works for Maritime Services)
Rounding Kirribili House. The security guard came down - bet they don’t see to many stand up paddlers with a back-pack full of ?? I wished him Merry Christmas and asked him to give my best to Mr Rudd and his family.

Caught in peak hour

Made it!!  to Milsons Point atleast; 3hrs 20mns

5 min pitt-stop at 5hrs30mns
Powering to the finish - 8hours38mins and 500mts to go

8hrs43mns - Parramatta and the end of the line! Woo hoo!!
Thank you Matt for coming with me - even though you were crook and had your girls to look after. We both did it!! Yeah, my crazy idea, but your support was so deeply appreciated.
And to Davos and Richard (Father) for following and keeping us entertained.
And the winner is…..

With a prediction of 8hrs and 51mns, Linda Reding. Congratulations Linda! I shall pass the prize to TJ. We hope things warm up for you also.

Linda wrote the other day “Hi Sam, I’ll get the donation to you as soon as we have electricity. Ice storm on Thursday night, and they don’t think it will be back on until this Thursday. They predict another one then.”

Thank you to everyone who sponsored me, and for all your great messages. $600 is on its way to the Carelinks Winter Appeal.

Together, we are providing a little extra warmth for others through the…..
Carelink Winter Heating Appeal, 2008
As a result of the low temperatures in Eastern Europe, winters are a significant source of suffering. With rising fuel prices, the average cost of heating an apartment is almost the entire old age pension. Those with no supporting relatives, living alone, are left with literally nothing to survive on over the Winter months. Please consider sponsoring or contributing to a brother or sister in need this year. more...    www.carelinks.net

It is such a beautiful Harbour, and it was a blessing really to be able to do this. The conditions turned out to be perfect, and apart from a bump from something passing through the Heads, everything went smoothly. Infact, I think for next year…….

Tomorrow is a beautiful day, so get out there!!

Thank you to everyone for all your support.

If anyone is interested to join me next year to try and beat the world record time for a stand up paddle from Q2P, then let me know and we'll start planning (training).
