By rejecting the Trinity,

do we honour Jesus more or less?

Bro. Robert Booth

In conversations about the Trinity, these questions often come up: Do we have a greater or lesser respect of Jesus because of our belief/doctrine today because of what we see?  Do we truly allow this to affect every fiber of our being?  How do we allow this doctrine/belief to change us?

Contrary to what some would presume this is not in any way a dissertation to either justify trinitarianism or promote non-trinitarianism. But a brief on what I consider to be the relevance of both in regards to Scriptural evidence. When one openly reads the Scriptures from a non-biased approach, preferrably a new Believer, the trinity or a tri-une God does not speak to them in the form of the Spirit of God nor does the concept of a tri-une God inject itself from the words they read from the Word of God.

It has been my personal experience that many truly lack the ability to understand the beginnings of the trinity or from whence it originated. This is to their demise when engaged in conversation with myself. For I was a staunch trinitarian for many years, and it was not until someone asked questions similar to those above that I started to do my own personal study. I was thoroughly shocked at the results from this study, the plethora of information that surrounds the origin and the injection of this doctrine into what we today call 'christianity' was overwhelming. It has spread like a canker throughout the ages of the traditional orthodox that many have failed to recognize the deception it projects, regardless of how it circumvents most of the Scriptures it uses to sustain its theory or theoretical standing within the christian community.

Now as I previously stated, this is not to put down trinitarianism but rather make some personal observations and encourage those who may be having a tough time in deciding which to follow - trinitarian or non-trinitarian. This decision will have to come from you and the Power of the Holy Spirit of God who leads ALL into Truth who sincerely desire to know the Truth.

In retrospect, when I held to the trinity concept, I used to fight tooth and nail to prove that the Scriptures spoke of Christ as Pre-everything. Only because that was what I was taught, truly a lamb led to the slaughter-house, blind leading the blind so to speak. When I refer to being taught I do not infer to that which the Spirit of God teaches but rather what man teaches. Stated clearly above that man now teaches this doctrine and that they do not go in-depth to the information concerning the history and the shroud of bloodshed surrounding it. It was said to me in another correspondence that "we believe that the spirit will teach of the trinity" yet when confronted as to why they have classes to teach this doctrine the correspondence was abruptly halted. To me this was a contradiction to what they claimed the Spirit would teach. Should one be seeking from God then God will teach, not man.

I contend that my respect and reverence for Christ, my Redeemer has grown greatly, knowing now that I have a true example of what being a Christ-ian is really about. It was always hard for me to accept some Scriptures as the way I understood them, but then after my own personal study as I said earlier, I truly believe that the Spirit of God opened up Truth about the Scriptures and that of His Beloved Son. That at the time appointed God sent forth His Son into the world, being foreordained before the foundations of the world to reconcile man to God and provide man the provision to be reconciled. Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, the Mediator between God and man, is the provision. Rejected by many, understood by some.

Does it affect every fiber of our being, I believe it does. Why, we now understand that part of the 'mystery' that surrounds this doctrine as claimed by many, really is not a 'mystery'. I believe that this statement is only a beguiling of Christ and of God's Word by the 'satan' influence in our minds, somewhat as that of Eve in the Garden. In other situations that I have recorded, the statement is always made that it is a hard theology to grasp, but the clarity of the Word of God trumps this 'mystery' making the Love displayed by God shrouded in Mercy and Grace to His very creations that have rejected Him. A good example of this is by the fact that we are more tolerant of our Brothers and Sisters who are still blinded by mans deception as opposed to being anathematized by them towards us who reject such a false teaching. We do not claim that they are "not saved" only misled. Whereas they will prominently claim non-trinitarians are not saved and are denying Christ and God the Father. There was an incident when this came up and I was vehemanantly told that if I did not believe in the trinity I was not saved, I asked the Preacher to show me evidence of this statement in Scripture and he could not, this is the logic: "Whosoever will be saved, before all things it is necessary that he hold the CatholicFaith. Which Faith except everyone do keep whole and undefiled, without doubt he shall perish everlastingly". Search the Scriptures and you will not find one Book, chapter or even one verse that supports this statement. Really-I challenge you. Many preachers today will claim that they are not in association to any catholic beliefs, but they speak the same that is Century's old.

I can say from a position of being knowledgable of both, that the non-trinitarian position is by far the easiest to grasp when it comes to the Deity and the Divinity of our Beloved Savior, Jesus Christ the Son of God. The overwhelming clarity of Jesus as the Son of God makes for much easier and more Truthful reading of the Scriptures. When one considers the confusion of always having to remember that 'Jesus is God' when one reads, makes Paul’s Letter's very very hard to understand. Since Paul does not always refer to the Holy Spirit, there must be an accountability when reading the text, and much pre-texting is required of the reader to accommodate a tri-une God. Also, the ease of understanding much of our Lords teachings, being under 1st Century Jewish communication, that there is an intrigue that one does not get from the 3-in-1 theology. When The Gospels speak of the Spirit leading Jesus or communicating something to Jesus, we can relate the same guiding to us today when we consider that the Spirit of Truth will guide us towards the Truth.

Based on the premise that Jesus was/is Fully God and fully man; there is no distinction to the separation of when Christ was exalted as the Resurrected one and the time of his earthly Ministry. More clearly, when we consider the teachings in the Gospels by Christ contained therein it is easy to distinguish that this was of an earthly, living condition. Even though the Gospels were written after the Ascension, they were still in referral to His earthly Ministry. Not until we start to read in Acts and the following Letters to the Churches by Paul, that we see a difference in the Resurrected Christ, from which Paul mainly speaks. The clarity of this can be easily seen by the language that Paul uses and the constant referral he makes of Christ, not as dead but as the Resurrected "Exalted" Savior.

This again affects the way we read and understand the Love of God to usward, not only of His Mercy but of His compassionate Grace as well. For it is by His mercy that we have been given to be partakers of His Divine Grace, and that by way of His Son, Jesus Christ, the Lamb that was slain, the Mediator between God and man.

The spiritual relief one has in not having to explain how a tri-une God has to separate Himself from Himself to show His mercy and Grace through Himself by allowing Himself to die on the Cross to appease Himself of a penalty for sin that He Himself cannot tolerate nor allow, is over joyous.....

Please notice, that I have not included any direct Scripture, for should you be in dire contemplation as to how to understand God, I pray that the influence of the Almighty Father and the leading of His Spirit guide you to the Truth.

A servant to the Throne.
