Greetings in the hope of Israel!
My name is Brother Scott visiting Eastern Europe from America. Over the past few weeks (Jan. 16 – Feb. 5, 2008), I have had the honor and privilege to observe the work here in Europe of Carelinks Ministries. I am humbled to see the selfless and giving sacrifice of Duncan and Cindy Heaster to these people. There are countless stories and testimonies that can be said about Carelinks and the impact they are having in the world for the sake of Christ.
People all over the earth are impacted and affected by this ministry. Over the past three weeks I personally witnessed six baptisms in countries like Latvia, Poland, Ukraine, and Turkey. Just in the past three weeks they have had numerous requests for baptism from different parts of the world. Incredible how the gospel message is alive and the Kingdom is advancing! There are requests all the time for this sort of ministry. Lack of volunteers and lack of funding sometimes gets in the way of the work, but they do the best they can with what God has blessed them with.
I am submitting this letter to you as an appeal for your contribution to the great works being done here for the gospel. There is much need for volunteers, workers, and funds to operate this ministry. The following list is an eyewitness account of just what I have seen going on; these are just some of the various aid and mission projects Carelinks is involved with that are truly changing the lives of many people.
Carelinks Ministries operates under a “what comes in for ministry goes out for the ministry” work ethic. In other words, the volunteers and co-workers do not take salary or personally benefit from donations received and never have done so. All the funds that come into Carelinks go directly to support the needs of people in the advancement of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God.
Ministries currently funded by Carelinks and volunteer work needed to be done include the following which I personally witnessed:
Support for local ecclesial members in Eastern Europe:
· Food and clothing.
· Paying for care for elderly sisters who have no one to look after them.
· Medicines and medical bills. Support for cataract surgeries and other medical expenses, hospital bills, etc..
· Winter Heating Appeals - Winter can be brutal in E. Europe. Carelinks over the years have been involved in aiding hundreds of people for purchase of firewood, replacing drafty windows, fixing roofs, unfreezing wells, providing clothing, and person hygiene supplies.
· Paying rent and living expenses for persecuted brethren in rural E. Europe.
· Travel for pastoral and counseling work, baptisms and breaking of bread.
Carelinks is involved remodeling a barn and turning it into a Bible school/shelter. This school in rural E. Europe will have a large meeting room. There will be living quarters for local families and accommodations for travellers and school attendees.
· Permits, plans, building supplies, tools, skilled labor.
· Volunteers needed in construction, interior workers, plumbing, and electrical.
· Monies needed for completion.
· A ministry outlet for the local community outreach and welfare works.
Ministries in other parts of the world include
· Support of a safe house in Turkey for persecuted Muslim converts to Christianity.
· Support for brethren in Christ who cannot return to their home countries under the treat of death.
· Monthly provisions fol refugees who have had to flee their homes.
· Interfacing with the United Nations and appealing to various governments on behalf of the persecuted.
· Aiding and funding immigration documentation and preparation.
· Relief in travel expenses and supplies for fleeing religious refuges.
· Provision of Bibles and other literature of the building up and edification of the saints.
Much work has been completed and is still needed for:
· Translation of literature, especially Introducing Bible Basics and Bible Basics into various languages and money to get them published.
· Workers to organize, lay out, and edit various publications for print in different languages.
· Volunteers to mail and follow up on ministry contacts, baptisms, etc…
· People to minister to the needs of the saints and help in discipleship efforts.
· Funding for publications and doctrinal studies needed.
· Postage costs and shipping materials.
Though the ongoing work of Bible Basics and the expansion of internet communication, there are many around the globe coming to the true faith in Jesus Christ and to have hope for the coming Kingdom. This leads to another area of great need, both financially and personally.
· Volunteers needed to mail Introducing Bible Basics to various parts of the world.
· People to baptize and disciple new converts.
· Follow up communication and provision of Bible literature and instruction.
· Travel expenses to reach people into the utter most part of the earth who have a deep conviction and desire for baptism and salvation in to the Kingdom of God.
Outreach efforts into Russia, the Ukraine and surrounding counties have produced much fruit. The Winter Bible School is the highlight of the year for some of the brethren in Christ who live in isolated parts of E. Europe and Russia. Some brothers and sisters travel for up to four days just to attend. Carelinks Ministries pays for the Winter Bible School, expenses include:
· Travel expenses for the poor.
· Travel expenses to reach isolated brethren.
· Financial support for emergency living situations.
· Food and hotel accommodations.
· Expenses for the meeting room.
· Distribution of funds to pay for medicines and operations.
· Circulation of Bibles in Russian, Bible Basics, Bible companions, and other literature.
· Supplying reader eye glasses to the saints who have difficulty reading.
· Teaching, exhorting, and encouraging the saints.
· Baptisms, fellowship and breaking of bread.
There is incredible impact being made by Carelinks in the lives of innumerable numbers of people. Over the past years they have baptized a few thousand people. They have mailed out countless numbers of Introducing Bible Basics and other publications. They have discipled and ministered to the needs of the saints who are real people with real life situations, and some living in real poverty.
You can be assured that your donation goes directly to the ministry. You can be assured that true gospel evangelism and the work of the Christ is going forth.
If you would like to donate to the ministry of Carelinks, please prayerfully consider the above report. The workers are few and the needs are great. The great commission is going forth and the gospel of the Kingdom of God is advancing.
Be a part of it! Become involved prayerfully and financially and on the ground. Ask to volunteer in what ever way you can. The needs are great.
